MONO LAKE COUNTY PARK AND THE SEARCH
FOR BLACK POINT FISSURES
MAMMOTH LAKES GALLERY
Mono Lake (County Park)/Black Point Fissures. August 2017.
A little tip for anyone visiting Mono Lakes to photograph the tufa, skip the County Park on the North shore (unless you're going there for a picnic) and go to Navy Beach/South Tufa. The South shore is considerably more picturesque due to the abundance of tufa formations.
We never did find the fissures. But we didn't feel too bad, as there was another couple wandering amongst the sage and volcanic ash that did not have any luck either. The following link is an informative blog post from someone who did find the fissures: https://thepathlessbeaten.com/2013/03/05/black-point-fissures/.
